Parade Information/Rules:

ENTRY:
There is no entry fee; participation is free. Submit Application and signed Waiver by JUNE 24th to confirm a spot. Late entries will only be considered if staff availability allows. No registrations will be accepted on the day of the event.
WHERE:
Parade participants will gather at the lot at E Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets (Beede Lumberyard). Participant check-in opens at 2:00pm; participants must arrive no later than 3:00pm to be in the parade. Parade steps off at 4:00pm and travels along 2nd Street to I Street, to 3rd Street, ending back at the lumberyard. Once the parade begins, those out of place will be positioned towards the end of the parade.
SIGNS:
Each entry must have a sign identifying the group or the title of the entry.
SOUND:
If your entry includes music, ensure it is family friendly. No vulgar or offensive music or sounds.
AWARDS:

Awards will be given for first place in each category: Most Patriotic, Best Performance, and Best Vehicle. Judging will be done by committee for each category.

Judging area will be located on 2nd Street, across from City Hall. Performances at the judging area may not be longer than 90 seconds.

Winners will be announced at the entertainment stage at approximately 7:00pm and will be posted on the Antioch Recreation Department’s social media pages. Award trophy and winner certificate will be available to pick up at the Antioch Community Center beginning July 8th.

GUIDELINES:

The City of Antioch is committed to providing a safe, family-friendly environment where all people are treated with kindness and respect. We ask all participants to adhere to these guidelines.

Entries must follow the theme and intent of an Independence Day Parade celebration. Political statements are discouraged. Participants will be expected to adhere to directions by parade officials and are required to designate 2 individuals who will receive instruction from Antioch Recreation staff to walk along each entry ensuring adherence to safety rules.

Any vulgar, offensive, or sexually explicit materials/themes/lyrics are not allowed.

SAFETY:

For the safety of the spectators and the parade participants, it is not permissible to throw, discard, or spray objects from your unit on the parade route. Participants may hand out giveaway items while walking near the spectators, but items may not be thrown from a moving vehicle. Participants throwing items may be removed from the parade and may be banned from future parades. In addition, the following requirements must be adhered to by all parade participants:

All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Helmets and safety gear are required for everyone riding bicycles, skateboards, scooters, and motorcycles.

Do not invite spectators to approach a moving vehicle/parade entry during the parade.

The following items are NOT ALLOWED: water guns, drones, motorized scooters/skateboards, or remote-controlled vehicles/airplanes.

Participants must always be in full control of animals and vehicles (of all types). No revving of engines for any motorized vehicles. Participants are responsible for cleaning up after animals.

We ask that you be mindful of the pace of the parade and keep pace in the parade.

The weather is typically very warm. Please be prepared for the heat by staying hydrated and using sunscreen. If you are bringing a pet, it must be on a leash. It is not recommended dogs walk the parade route on hot asphalt.

Please print a copy of this information and provide it to everyone in your group that will be involved on parade day.

* Must have someone in your group clean up after any animals. Animal entries will be placed at the end of the parade.

**In-route performances are limited to 90 seconds each and 2 times during the parade route: once at the judge’s table on 2nd Street and once at 3rd/F Street.
