In accordance with California State Law, all pets must be spayed (females) or neutered (males) before going to a new home. We now have a staff Veterinarian who performs spay/neuter surgeries at the shelter, and many pets will be already altered before we offer them for adoption. If you choose a pet that has already been spayed or neutered, it can go home with you today! If surgery is needed, it will be scheduled for the next available surgery date, and your pet will generally be ready to go home the afternoon of surgery.
Example: A adopted on Saturday will have surgery on Monday or Wednesday, and will be ready to go home in the afternoon on that day.
Some pets with special needs may need to be surgically altered at an off-site veterinarian. Scheduling of off-site spay/neuter will occur as soon as possible.
