SolarAPP+ (Instant Solar Permits)

Experience a quicker and more cost-effective solar power system installation for your home thanks to the City of Antioch’s simplified and streamlined application process. The City of Antioch is committed to promoting renewal energy systems by offering affordable permit fees for solar photovoltaic (PV) installations and standardized solar permitting guidelines.

SolarAPP+ is designed to provide a code-compliance check for the majority of residential, roof-mounted, retrofit photovoltaic systems. To see which systems are eligible, please refer to the Eligibility Checklist below:

The automated SolarAPP+ portal for instant permitting is exclusively available to registered contractors whose projects align with the Eligibility Checklist.

Steps for Obtaining an Instant Solar Permit

  • Submit your project through SolarAPP+ for review
  • Pay the $35.00 processing fee charged by SolarAPP, with an additional $25 if you are including an Energy Storage
  • Download the approval documents
  • The approval documents must be uploaded into the City’s online permitting portal, Citizen Access, when applying for your permit
  • For resubmittals uploaded into SolarAPP+ for review, please ensure the revised plans are sent directly to the Building Division for processing.

Refunds on permit fees are subject to review for compliance with this Department policy and will be refused if verifiable property owner authorization is not provided with the request

  • NOTE: When applicable, a Knife Blade Lockable Disconnect is required

Pay Permit Fees

  • Pay permit fees in Citizen Access
  • One-time fee payment is required for all Solar permits

Obtaining your Permit/Inspection Job Card

  • Upon successful uploading of all requisite submission documents and completion of fee payments, the Instant Solar permit shall be automatically issued. Subsequently, the Instant Solar Permit/Inspection Job Card will be generated and can be printed through the online portal.
  • Log in to the City of Antioch’s permitting portal, Citizen Access
  • Locate and select the specific project for which you want to schedule an inspection
  • Navigate to the “Inspection” tab and select the inspection you would like to schedule
    • Select “Request Inspection” once the inspection is selected
  • Select a date and time frame and submit the Inspection Request
    • AM – 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
    • PM – 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM

NOTE: All SolarAPP+ Photovoltaic inspections require a printed SolarAPP+ Inspection Checklist, Single-Line Diagram (SLD), and Permit Card to be present on-site at the time of the inspection. If these essential items are not present at the time of inspection, the inspection will be deemed unsuccessful, resulting in automatic failure.
